We wanted to cruise from Portland and see the river scenery. On this we were not disappointed. The scenery was gorgeous and the ship is beautiful. There are plenty of opportunities to grab beverages and snacks throughout the day, but the food in the dining room left a lot to be desired. Often food arrived barely warm and portions were often small - my husband joked that the prime rib was so thin that you could almost see through it. In contrast, dessert was great. Restaurant staff seemed to be either seasoned wait staff or brand new. All were very helpful and eager to please.

All the staff were friendly and ready to help. Entertainment was okay, but typical of a river cruise in that it was more cozy, like singers, music, comedian or presentations regarding the history and sights of the Columbia River. If you are a drinker, drinks were free so that's a bonus. We don't drink so that was lost on us.

Having been on European river cruises, we found this one disappointing due to the food. Generally, you pay more for river cruises but the food and atmosphere are extra special and excursions are included. Having the dining experience disappointing detracts from the overall experience. After all, you are on vacation and expect to be eating extravagant meals. Too bad!
