The brand new Iona is lovely, sparkly, gleaming, and well ... new! My ambition before cruise end was to walk from one end to t'other barefoot so luxurious was the carpeting. Also mightily impressive were the staff for some of whom had joined the ship for the first time, cheerful, unfailingly polite - what a difference smiles make - yes, even masked ones. There were a few teething problems which are bound to happen - including rather amusingly an occasion when the engines took 3 hours to start - reminded me of an old Ford Anglia I had once. All in all a lovely cruise and we were blessed with such amazing weather which enhanced enjoyment of the scenery. My inside cabin fine.

I was impressed how quiet and draught free the ship was, and air conditioning ideal - refinement on cruise ships has improved immeasurably since a very bumpy trip on the QE2 in 1998.

Spent the evenings in the 710 club with the resident rock band - a shame only two of them boarded the ship, a third member appeared by mid-cruise: they were very talented but maybe finesse wasn't the strong suit. Drinks prices more than reasonable, and as always service excellent. Enjoyed too the vista cafe - a word about Kathleen, a cleaner there starting the housework at 0630 (would never happen in my house), it was her birthday on 25th Aug, should have bought her some choccies .. but forgot.

Cabin Review

Small but fine for me, didn't spend much time in it - steward excellent and kept it pristine clean.
