Curiosity led us to book this cruise - this ship is certainly not directed at our age group, but as veteran cruisers since the mid-1970's (we started pretty young) we couldn't resist a peak at a cruise ship aimed specifically at non-cruisers.
The ship looked huge, and rather ugly, but is in fact smaller than some of the super-cruisers and only takes 2750 guests - or 'Sailors' as the hype calls them. We think it wasn't full, but if it were fully booked the dining facilities in the main eateries wouldn't have coped.
Our Central Sea Terrace cabin was extremely well appointed and quite spacy, except for the bathroom which occupied minimal area, albeit a good sized and effective shower. Everything was controlled - lights curtains, TV etc, through an iPad. Loved the idea of lighting effects, but could have wished they weren't attached to the curtains - trying to get the right ambient lighting at night meant the curtains were opening and closing like a theatre curtain call on speed. What wasn't on the cabin iPad was on the Virgin app, through which everything was managed, booked and paid for. When it worked, that was: by the end of Day 2, neither mine nor my husband's phone app worked any more, nor did the one on my iPad. Trips to Deck 5 Sailor Services were helpful, though nothing really got resolved.
