Chose this cruise as it was a Maiden (we were booked on the original and were, therefore, very happy we got on this one).

First point to make - most of the ship is stunning. Second point to make - the virtual queuing for dining is, lets say, not great, but it's early days. We prefer the 'pager' system.

The Atrium is, in our opinion, stunning. The huge glass windows spanning three decks on both sides make it a wonderfully light and airy space, and the chrome and glass spiral staircase down the centre benefit from this enormously.

Cabin Review

We had a Front Suite on Deck 11 port side. You enter via a short hallway in to the lounge area which is not exceptionally large, but adequate. Large TV on wall, settee (extremely hard!), one chair, one footstool, two side tables. Nice glass mural on one wall. Two wall lamps. There is an area with glasses, the coffee machine and tea/coffee, pods, sugar etc on top and underneath a cupboard housing the fridge. There's a door on to the balcony (more on that later!). Large wardrobe, which looks like part of the wall. You have to press it and it opens. You then continue through to the bedroom area. Large floor to ceiling window (you can see out but not in). Two bedside tables, two lamps either side of the bed in the wall, plus a bonus of reading lights which can be swivelled to where you want them. Set of wardrobes in one corner, one of which houses the safe, laundry bag and clothes brush. There are also cupboards with shelves on side of the bed beside the bedside tables. One nice touch is that lights come on in all the wardrobes when you open them. Another TV on the wall opposite the bed, with a small shelf underneath and cupboards under that. There's an area with a chair and a mirror that is obviously for use as a dressing table. The door to the bathroom is next to this area. The bathroom is lovely as usual. Two sinks set underneath a large mirror, with a separate small mirror for shaving/make up attached to it. The glass doored shower is in one corner. The jacuzzi bath is the other end of the room and is wonderful. Not only is it a jacuzzi, but it also has lights - absolutely stunning and can be set to being just one colour, or circulating through a number of colours. The room is mainly decorated in black marble. There's a door leading through to the toilet. Usual stuff here! There is one small thing - the door from the toilet in to the hallway opens in to the toilet. This is first time we have ever seen this. They always open in to the hallway. The issue with it opening into the toilet is that, unless you have the other door leading in to the bathroom open, and you are, shall we say, of the larger proportion, it is impossible to close the door. Very odd to change the direction the door opens after all these years.

The balcony - see below for comment on door. The balcony is narrow round to the front with enough space for a round table and three chairs at which you could sit and have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Round to the side it widens out and there are two reclining chairs, two foot stools and one lounger. It is a shame there are not two loungers, but there is simply not the room for them. We would say that, although this balcony is reasonably narrow, the view from it is stunning! You get over 180 degrees of view - it is absolutely amazing and worth the problem with the door!

The balcony door - this is currently a major concern. The door faces in such a direction that when you open it opens INTO the wind. Now anyone who cruises knows how windy it can get at the front of the ship. This was a serious issue for us, and all other front Suite passengers, and anyone thinking of booking a front Suite needs to know NOT to open the door when it is very windy, and when you do open it, do it VERY carefully and slowly, and hold the door handle firmly.

In conclusion, this Suite is lovely (apart from the door out on to the balcony which P&O are addressing) and we would not hesitate to book one again.
