Review of the Carnival Horizon Cruise, departing Port of Miami on 8/1/21. We visited Amber Cove, Dominican Republic, Half Moon Cay, & Bimini, Bahamas.

This was our 30th cruise, 13th Carnival sailing. We are a married couple, early 50’s from SD.

We arrived in Miami the evening before our cruise, stayed at a airport hotel, Holiday Inn Express East (FYI-staying near the airport is a more economical option than staying near the cruise port) and shuttled to the port.

Cabin Review

Stateroom: Deck 8, forward, inside accessible. Very quiet area. We noticed many staterooms with their card keys in their mailboxes meaning they missed their cruise for one reason or another (assuming covid related). We noticed a few issues upon arrival since our stateroom looked as if no one had stayed in it for a while, no hand soap bar in the bathroom, a couple cleaning issues. We mentioned to a supervisor so they cleaned our stateroom before we returned. It was handled quickly, efficiently and was spotless. Our king size bed was really comfortable. We asked our room steward, Putra, from Indonesia, for a mattress topper, as well, which he added immediately. He was very friendly, always there when needed and called us by name every time we encountered him. We had a choice of morning or evening room servicing, we chose morning. There’s no longer ice buckets in the staterooms so you must request this if desired. We are gold past guest members, so we received two liters of water, commemorative pins and a free drink each after 5 pm on the last night of the cruise (anything we wanted). The waters and pins were not delivered like previously…you must ask for the waters at a bar and the pins are at Pixels photos and provide your S&S card for verification.
