Norwegian are supposedly making a Covid comeback and I have just returned from a week on the Norwegian Jade from Athens. Norwegian was always one of my favourite cruise lines and i have sailed on the Norwegian Jade many times previously however, this time i think the word Jade was appropriate as it was all a bit jaded. Whilst i mention things that have been long gone and stripped out the product has now been stripped so far back its just all very bland.

Firstly the ship itself, whilst i recognise this is now a slightly older ship and there is a need to revamp and refit ships over time to keep them fresh and modern, please excuse my language but they completely 'Bastardised' this ship in a half hearted attempt at a refit. They have removed all the character and the heart from this ship. Long gone are the nice bespoke carpets which segregated and zones areas such as the Champagne bar and whiskey and replaced with a generic muted carpet, pictures have been replaced with contemporary modern pictures and the cabin refits are truly terrible with a 'mish mash' of coloured woods. Maybe if i hadn't sailed this ship previously i wouldn't have noticed as much but if your going to do a refit then do it properly. I don't expect to go on a cruise and have bath towels with holes in them or have mould and rust around the shower door, these could be easily fixed. At the same time as refitting they have also removed things like the water flumes which leave little activities for children. Its like someone from head office has ordered everything to be made or coloured neutral and ripped out all the character from the ship.

Food Offering

Cabin Review

A mish mash of coloured woods where furniture has been replaced or refitted so it doesnt match. Bathrooms with mould and rust round the shower door and a half hearted attempt at refitting the cabin. TV has very few channels just US news and BBC news when they were working. Towels arrived looked old and tatty with holes in some days.
