This cruise was postponed from last year. I cannot fault both Emerald's UK operation or that on board. When our flight out was delayed by a technical fault ten minutes from boarding that meant we would miss our connection in Lisbon, I received a phone call from Emerald re-assuring me that our airport transfer was being re-arranged to meet the revised arrival time.

Night time sailing is not permitted on the Douro, so all movements take place during the day. This gave ample opportunity to admire the beautiful scenery. The food and drink was up to Emerald's usual excellent level. All the staff spoke excellent English and couldn't do too much to make our holiday memorable. When things went wrong, like a delay caused by a damaged lock, excursions were rapidly rearranged. Due to Covid, there were Social Distancing and hand sanitisation measures in place. Fresh masks were supplied daily. Emerald arranged (and paid for) PCR Covid tests 48 hours before departure. A cruise to remember. Thank you.
