My husband (DH) and I had the pleasure of cruising on the Endeavor around Iceland, 10 days, Reykjavik to Reykjavik. This was only its second voyage. It was a port intensive cruise with no sea days.

We have cruised previously on a variety of mostly luxury lines, so we compare our experience here with those. However, we are in a Covid environment, and the Endeavor is a new ship, so those are variables.

Akureyri

We did the Highlights of Northern Iceland excursion, which was a 6 hour bus tour with 3 major stops, including fantastic waterfall. The buses run hot, without proper AC or WC, so be prepared, especially since you have to wear masks in the bus.

Beautiful hike, 5.7 miles on our pedometer, to and back from the Arctic Circle monument after Zodiaking in. No facilities of any kind on the way up and down. Many puffins and Arctic tern -- hold something high to keep them away from pecking your face! Bring your zoom lens.

A cute little town to walk when docked, with an option for a RIB tour of sea caves. The only annoyance is that they play very loud rock music when going fast, which detracts from enjoyment of the natural environment.

This is the easiest way to see puffings, if you are on time. Zodiak in, then back.

The Whale Museum is fantastic, great tour, great information.

The excursion to Red Sand Beach is fantastic, though a long ride in a stuffy van wearing masks.

Reykjavik

We were here during 3 rainy days, and could easily have spent a week. Many local sights, museums, and terrific restaurants. Don't miss seafood at Messin. There are many private tour options available too, we did an all day photography tour of the south coast.

Our excursion to an ice cave was a bust, because it was a long drive getting there and the tunnel smelled of gas so we had to abort. This is NOT suitable for anyone with walking instability, easy to fall.

But we also saw waterfalls on the way back.
