American Constellation Review

The trip was a disaster. We sailed out on July 4th—four people tested positive on the fourth full day. The trip was canceled.

I wanted to escape the heat and stay in the USA. I thought it would be safer. This is a crummy, cheap company and they get away with it because their repeat clientele knows no better. They say they have wi-fi. Don’t believe it. Not enough bandwidth to download anything. No decent films. They have DVDs that are antiques and I had no player. When people contracted COVID, they took too long to tell us. Getting tossed off with little way to make new flight arrangements was awful. They were minimally helpful. I had to stay up all night to be ready to leave at 3:45 am after two days of confinement. It took me 19 hours to get back, not counting airport waiting times. Travel on Sundays is difficult.

They have no laundry service and no telephones in the cabins. Office hours are very limited and if you need something or someone: good luck. The cruise director has the kind of voice that made me want to cover my ears. Like chalk on a blackboard. She rarely shut up and was no help once COVID struck. The food is sometimes good, but there is never a complete meal. Asking for fruit or veggies usually pointless. Their open seating plan doesn’t work with inexperienced servers. They had one man who provided the alleged entertainment. They serve liquor in the evening but guests have to ask for wine with dinner. There is no sommelier.

My only advice is to avoid these people unless you want a mediocre experience. The good news is that I lost three pounds even though I had to eat junk food. It was next door and I was hungry. I can’t believe I was so stupid. The COVID outbreak was not their fault. They should have helped us with arrangements to leave when the trip was canceled. So far, no word on refunding extra airfare or anything else. I cannot believe they have not contacted us already. I guess that’s to be expected. This is a privately owned business that has found a formula that works for them. Not for me. Stay away if you’re smart.

Cabin Review

Clean with cheap furniture. Even my own Purell bottle. Nice sized bathroom. Mediocre replenishment of supplies likely due to inexperience and no training of staff. Mostly just kids trying their best. We had several disabled passengers and I do give them kudos for the excellent way these passengers were accommodated.
