After a few cruises on newer and larger Msc ships, I was disappointed that the quality of the Yacht Club declines, and that this great product moves more and more towards mass market. Therefore I was looking forward to the cruise on the “old reliable” Msc Splendida. From the very first day I was very positively surprised.
EMBARKATION
We embarked in Trieste, which is a new homeport for Msc. The terminal is well prepared and the staff is friendly, well organized. Despite the new Covid procedures such as antigen tests for everyone, the entire embarkation process was smooth and we were on board in less than 30 minutes.
The Yacht Club Deluxe Suite on Splendida is slightly bigger than a regular balcony cabin, it is spacious and has a walk-in closet. I regret that the newer ships no longer offer a walk-in closet, which is great feature. The decoration of the cabin is nice, but it's a pity that in the current situation Msc does not use the decorative pillows and bedspreads. The cabin was perfectly clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bedding new and elegant. Msc could, however, consider replacing the TV sets with more modern ones, and about renovating the bathrooms during the next refurbishment, in order for the ship to meet the standards of 2021.
