We were delighted to see the UK residents only Welcome Back cruises released. Everything about it was wonderful.

We booked onto Viking Venus's second ever passenger voyage, which had her 'Godmother' Anne Diamond on board, and we loved it so much we went back and did it again on her 4th voyage. It was first class, Viking at its best. The crew were clearly delighted to be back, and loved being sailing again ahead of competitors. I honestly think the crew friendliness and effort to please is above and beyond what I've experienced on other cruise lines. And I'm sure a lot of that is the result of being well selected and trained, then being very well treated - more than one told us how lucky they felt to be working on a Viking ship.

The food was exceptional. Ok I'm not a fan of the Chef's Table but others raved about it. Manfredi's is such a treat, but The Restaurant is fantastic so to me they are equally as good as each other. I particularly liked that you could have half portions, or even smaller portions if you wanted to try a few things. The World Cafe is also excellent - I'm not a fan of buffets, but they produce wonderful quality food - we only ate the occasional breakfast and lunches there, especially if we wanted to sit outside.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Veranda Stateroom

The rooms are beautiful, and you can get anything you need. We asked for extra hangers, and a top sheet under the duvet - no problem. On our first trip we were in a PV room and a DV for the second. We'd only had PV before, but now for future cruises I'm more than happy with the DV room, its very spacious albeit obviously smaller than a PV. We realised that we spent so little time in our room, it didn't matter. And no time on our balcony really but i did like being able to open the door and let some fresh air in.

I love having the USB x2 on each side of the bed. There are European and US sockets - so UK people need an adaptor.

A proper hairdryer was available.
