Within hours of us boarding the beautiful Harmony of the Seas in Port Canaveral, the captain made an announcement to the passengers that due to the developing Hurricane Dorian, we would be sailing to the western Caribbean ports of Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan, along with our scheduled visit to Perfect Day at Coco Cay (the renovated island is incredible btw). While initially disappointing, it turned out to be a one of a kind, amazing cruise. It actually would up being extended into a 10 day cruise because we were unable to safely get back to Port Canaveral. The crew handled the storm incredibly, from flying in extra entertainment to perform onboard, to always making sure there was plenty of food (the Mariner of the Seas was docked next to us in Cozumel and gave us some extra food), and to keeping us in beautiful weather throughout.

Our waiter & waitress became like family to us, and we looked forward every night to dining with them serving us (we ate at Specialty Restaurant one night and preferred eating in the Main Dinning Room better because they were so nice). Royal Caribbean extended all of our drink packages and any other packages that we had paid for. They also gave us Crown & Anchor points for every extra night we were onboard the ship (since we were in a junior suite we got double the points per night). Throughout the experience we had nothing but a great time and we feel that Royal Caribbean did an excellent job keeping us updated and entertained throughout the whole ordeal. Next time we cruise we actually hope that this happens again so that we get an extended cruise again! 100% recommend cruising with Royal.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite Accessible

This cabin was amazing. Especially with being on the cruise for an extra amount of time, having the extra space that came with the Junior Suite was incredible. We loved having some of the suite perks and having a large closet was amazing. We were able to cruise super comfortably. The best thing about the room we stayed in was that it came with a pullman bed. With two kids, having bunk beds is so much better than them sleeping together in a pull out sofa. They each had their own space and neither complained about their sibling kicking them while they were sleeping. This made a huge difference in our cruising experience.

Port Reviews

Perfect Day at CocoCay

Perfect Day at CocoCay was incredible! We were there both pre and post renovation and I can't even believe that they are the same island. The waterslides are so much fun, the pool is beautiful, the zip-line had incredible views, and all the staff was so incredibly kind. It was so nice to just walk off the ship onto the new pier instead of having to take a tender!

Cozumel

Cozumel was such a fun port! Our cruise actually visited her either 3 or 4 times due to the hurricane surrounding Florida. It became a running joke on the cruise about how every day we woke up and we'd probably be in Cozumel. We did an excursion once and it was incredible! We weren't even supposed to go to Cozumel originally but I am so glad that we did!

Roatan

Roatan was so incredible! We did a horseback riding tour and they took us and the horses into the water. Our tour guides were so fun! They actually took pictures of us on our phones while we were riding the horses, even though they had a photographer that would take pictures of us and try to sell them to us (it was so amazing that they went so above and beyond for us!)/ It was so incredible riding horseback on the island, an experience I will never forget! All of the locals were so incredibly welcoming and kind, and it was so incredible to see how people live their lives in different parts of the world. So much fun!
