Sail Date: Jan 2020

We chose this cruise based on itinerary. We knew that the ship was older and expected, "quaint!" and it was quaint. Very clean and over all, not bad for it's age. Had we wanted five star sailing, we would have gone elsewhere. Most of the passengers were very pleasant and yes we had a sprinkling of passengers who complained from day 1. The fact that we missed ports due to the corona virus, was not upsetting. The Captain had our best interests set as a priority. We had little choice but to listen to his decisions. He kept us safe, feed and the cruise director "Josh" and his team, kept us very well entertained. We had some passengers who were experts and knew more than the Captain, or so they thought. They were trouble makers and knew how to bring the passengers morale down and thrived on it. The ship and it's crew, looked after us well and we were in a little healthy cocoon of our own until we reached Avonmouth. That was the scary part. Now we had to face the music of covid-19. It was easier for others who lived in Britain but the ship provided invaluable help to the rest of us who had to change flights, etc. and travel out of Britain to our respective countries. To those of you who complain about not being re-reimbursed for the 2 cruise days at the end; please do your math. I added up all my charges on board, then once home, I checked all my credit card charges and the last charge to be processed was showing less than what the charges were. This amounted exactly to the amount we were to be credited for the two days compensation. My cruise companion who lives in a different country, than I; also found his final payment the same way. They adjusted your final bill! I'm home, safe and have fond memories of a nice trip.

Cabin Review

Cabin inside double

Good use of space and in a quiet corridor near the bow. Cabin Steward was excellent and nice neighbors. Small problem with t.v. but it was fixed the same day and air conditioning was adjusted by a simple phone call to the front desk. Bathroom was older but spotless and lots of hot water. Good exhaust fan.

Port Reviews

Bristol (Avonmouth)

We spent 4 days prior to the cruise, discovering this town and enjoyed a train ride to Bath, England for an afternoon.

Lisbon

Docked within easy walking distance to the old town.

Casablanca

Docked almost in town center. Ship provided a free shuttle to the market.

Casablanca, exceeded our expectations.

Walvis Bay

Tour of Dune 7!

Port Elizabeth

Free shuttle to a lovely shopping center. En-route we got a tour of the town. Not bad for a quick change in itinerary.

Durban

Ushaka Mall was a treat. Less than $2.00 each for the all day People Mover Bus to get around town. Great oysters and beer at John Dory's beachfront restaurant.

Richards Bay

Took a tour from the ship to the Zulu Cultural Village. Excellent.

Mombasa

Not the highlight of the trip. They are trying to have a tidy town for tourist but locals just drop garbage everywhere. People were friendly but having said that, three ladies had their purses snatched!

Colombo

Tour off ship to Temple of the Tooth in Kandy. Excellent tour. Long hot day!

Mormugao (Goa)

Been here before so we did our own thing!

Salalah

Been here before.

Aqaba (Petra)

Free shuttle from ship to center town. An easy to walk town. Exceptionally clean. We both got haircuts and pampering for a very reasonable price.

Zanzibar

Loved the old town!

Male

Been here before. Nice friendly port to walk in.
