We had a balcony cabin on deck 8 and joined the Costa Victoria in Dubai. Overall we were very happy with the ship, the food and the customer service. The ship went into lockdown after a passenger was diagnosed with CoV19. Costa looked after passengers and crew very well in unprecdented circumstances for this century. The ship is appropriate for the fare charged. It is not the latest, biggest, most luxurious boat in the Costa fleet. It is however a good 'starter' cruise. This is our second cruise.
Pre-lockdown
The initial boarding went smoothly and was over very quickly. We had a short wait in the sun. The crew were very effecient, professional and welcoming. The ship has a patina to show that it has been around. I liked the ambiance of wood and white painted steel. Imagine you are on an 'old school' liner.
Our balcony cabin on deck 8 was very confortable. The bed was firm and big. There was limited free power outlets. Bring some two round pin style double adapters to plug into the bed lamp outlets. The balcony had 2 chairs and a small table. There was a TV. Small fridge. Air conditioning effective. No tea making facilities. Bathroom was as small as expected with shower and toilet. Our cabin steward, Dewa, was very effecient and friendly. Dewa's smile was a great start to to day as he busied himself setting up each day. Thank you, Dewa.
