Initially we had an Asian destination cruise with Norwegian, that was canceled. We were able to secure the Bahamas cruise, departing in Miami. Everything about this cruise was great. The crew managed the increasing corona virus concerns well, and passengers were generally patient and understood. With the exception of two adult passenger tantrums we witnessed, that I must say were handled very well by crew who were clearly working above and beyond their everyday responsibilities, things flowed well for the passengers. I’m sure behind the scenes it was a very busy and stressful time for all of the crew, especially considering whilst we were cruising, the orders came that all cruises were canceled, so crew were faced with the prospect of being without income for an unknown amount of time once our journey ended. Not once did any of the crew complain or make comment about this. They continued to work hard, showed grace and humour and managed their roles well.
The ports were great, and our hearts are worried about the impact the cancelations will have on the beautiful people we met on the ship and in port.
We loved the entertainment, the shopping guides with Dan & Dan, the wait staff in the restaurants, the bar tenders...all of the staff were fantastic!
Our cabin was perfect. Serviced twice a day, and our steward was amazing. We loved having the balcony, and slept with the door ajar and fresh air every night. Waking to new ports was a real treat, and the complimentary continental breakfast delivered to our cabin was such a luxury.
We visited San Juan as a self guided stop. Being there for sunset and to experience the beautiful buildings at night was amazing. Food choice were excellent and our choice of bar (has Frog in the name) did not disappoint.
We took a trip to a beach recommended by some of the crew, amazing! Beautiful beaches and great service, the people are struggling after years of trying to rebuild due to hurricanes. They are proud and will assist in any way they can.
Enjoyed the island. Disappointed we missed the swimming with pigs excursion, but because we had booked so late to cruise, we couldn’t secure the tour. There was enough todo on the island without any tour. My only advice is the actual food, drinks etc was disorganised. I’m not sure if it was because of the added corona virus pressure, the crew needed to communicate better with passengers about where bars were and where food was available as we noticed some venues were so over crowded, People were lining up for a long time, in the sun, tying to get served, and wait staff were absolutely overworked both at the bar and around the sun deck. We cut our trip to the island short as we couldn’t see the value in lining up to line up to pay taxes on beverages while in port, when we could be in the comfort of our stateroom and not having to deal with the crowds. A shame but I’m hoping this experience had more to do with managing the virus than the norm.
