We like MSC, wanted to try the new ship and was not disappointed (except for cancelling Ocean Cay but can't do anything about the weather). In spite of some reviews, the crew is friendly and accomodating, there is toilet paper, tissues, and washcloths, food is as good or better than most cruise lines, the buffet has a lot of variety.
It's a personal thing, but wish that MSC did not stray from their Italian roots. While the pizza in the buffet is the best NY-style available outside of NYC, and the buffet includes Italian cold cuts like prociutto and cheeses like asiago and grana padano, there is not an Italian restaurant on board or the pizza bar like on the Davina. Also, the food in general is under-seasoned but that is the trend trying to appeal to a wider market.
The ship is beautiful and well maintained. We only had 3,800 passengers (capacity is 5,600) and never seemed crowded, even on sea days.
Cabin has enough room and storage as other cruise lines and sufficient for two people. Our balcony was at the end of the indented portion so had a larger balcony; even though one side is partially blocked, it was not a problem. Being on the 13th level provided shade from the 15th pool level. Noise was not a problem. Cabin was clean and service was excellent.
