Weirdly shaped, bed too short.  Poor lighting, shallow drawers, lousy storage.  No plug ins by the bed.  Balcony was great, but the room is poorly designed and inefficient.

Had a free walking tour with Sara.  She was very friendly, knowledgable and open to answering many questions.  Tour was a just over 2 hours long.  Don't forget to tip!

Their dive shop is literally across the street from where the Epic docked.  Did 2 shore dives with Jeanine.  First dive was Cha Cha Cha beach, right in front of the ship!  Our second dive Jeanine drove us to the Cliff Shore dive site - about 15 minutes away.  Great clarity, great dives.  Had a beer, completed our dive books and were back on the ship by 2:00 p.m.  Definitely book with them instead of NCL - substantially cheaper.

We were pick up at a Citgo Gas Station, about a 10-15 minute walk from where the Epic was docked.  Pick up time was about 10 minutes later than the specified time.  Chicha picked us up, and we dove with another woman named Sheila.
We were taken directly to the dive boat (behind the Airport), about 15 minutes away.  
Did 2 boat dives - Kantil and Skallahein with DM JP.  Great service, we were given 1/2 a ham and cheese sandwich, a juice box, and a mini snickers to eat between dives.
Definitely would recommend their operation - don't forget to tip! 

We booked through the Tikaye Spa & Resort, which turned out to be the dive shop that NCL uses.
We were 10 divers – 1 woman had done a refresher in Bonaire, and the Tikaye Dive Shop wouldn’t accept it.  So she wasn’t allowed to dive with us.  Our group ranged in age from mid 20’s to mid-late 60’s, and a variety of skill levels.
A Divemaster (DM) is supposed to give everyone a dive plan for each dive, go over safety, what happens if you lose someone, blah, blah, blah.  Our DM didn’t do that and I was lax in calling him out on it.  That won’t happen again.
So we did our 1st dive close to shore – 9 divers – 1 DM.  PADI allows for 5 divers per DM, so what we did wasn’t safe or sactioned.  The 1st dive, we dove literally beside fisherman who were dropping 20-30 foot nets into the ocean.  Besides us, there were 2 catamarans on shore with dozens of people snorkeling.
Obviously, St. Lucia doesn’t have a protected area, and it was pretty weird to be diving right beside fishing nets filled with 1000s of smelt-like fish, and watching snorkelers above us, close to the nets.
Our 2nd dive was pretty disastrous.  Again, a 9 to 1 ratio, and this time the DM misjudged the current.  Frankly, I think he knew what he was getting into, but was too lazy to take us to a more sheltered site.  The DM was so far ahead of us, and everyone was struggling against a very strong current to try to stay with him.  That resulted in everyone using far too much energy and air from the tanks.  At one point, at least 2 in our group lagged back, as they just couldn’t keep up, and the DM lost them.
Finally, as I was using air like crazy, I got his attention and told him my air level.  That’s when he decided to turn the group around, and have us go with the current.  Our dive was to be 45 minutes, but it was more like 35 minutes.  We met up with the straggler 2 divers on our way back.
When we got on the boat, I told the DM that the dive was crap – and that he had no control of the group.  He was pretty sheepish, but not apologetic. 

 I felt bad for the others in the group, as they had paid literally double what we had, by going through NCL.  
I hope one of the other divers lets NCL know about this – we should have had 2 DMS, 1 in the front and 1 in the back of the group.  There were far too many variables with such a large group to rely on one DM to oversee it all.  




Took a cab from the cruise ship for $5 USD pp.  Paid $25 USD pp to get into the Boatyard.  They gave you a bracelet and a ticket for a free drink.  Got 2 loungers and an umbrella in the 1st row on the beach.  Happy Hour was from 11 to 12 and from 1 to 2.  Rum punch was 2 for $6 USD during these times.
Took their free snorkel tour.  Saw 3 turtles and 6 rays.  Snorkeled over 2 wrecks.  Took just over an hour.
Had fish bites and fries for lunch - good portion and quite tasty.  Left at 2:30 p.m.  Took advantage of their free taxi return to the ship.  Was there for almost 5 hours.  Great beach day!


Choose to do a Ship day - perfect!  Slept in, had a leisurely room service breakfast.  Went and spent a few hours at Spice H20 - NO ONE there!  Very relaxing - used the pool, completely enjoyable. 

Antigua

6 of us took a taxi ($10 USD pp/each way) to Long Bay Beach.  Our Driver was Ben, who drove about 20+ minutes along some crazy mountain roads to get us there.  Paid $25 for 2 loungers and an umbrella.  Had Goat Curry, Jerk Chicken and Fish Soup for Lunch.  Clean bathrooms and showers.  Ben picked us up at 2 p.m.  It took about 45 minutes to get back to the Epic.

Another Ship Day!  Had a leisurely breakfast at the Garden Cafe Buffet, then did a tour of the 13th floor of the Epic to see the Bridge.  Walked the walking track on Deck 7, and got to see inside a couple of the lifeboats.
Started packing and finished by 11 a.m.
Got off the ship long enough to claim my free earrings.  Hubby and I sat with a friend at the bar beside the Epic. $2 Beers and great WiFi.
