We are Royal Caribbean loyalist but have also sailed on Carnival and Disney ships. Frankly all have their advantages and different price points, but RC seems to bring the best value for the dollar. We sailed on Mariner many years ago and chose her because the short itinerary and stop in the new Coco Cay was appealing to us. Our four night trip overall was very good. Friendly staff and a ship that does not show its age, along with great weather provided an overall good experience. Service in all areas was very good. We dined in the main dining room for most meals and avoided the windjammer buffet except for embarkation day lunch. The service and food in the main dining room was very good overall. We had dinner in Chops for the first time. Our service seemed rushed in this private dining area. However our food was far better than the main dining room food, and well worth the $30 upcharge.

The Mariner is well maintained and does not show its age. Our oversized outside cabin on deck 7 aft was comfortable, clean, and well attended to by our room steward.

Entertainment around the ship was plentiful and there is something for everyone. The main production shows were what we expected and a little odd in choice of overall theme. The headliner comedian, and impressionist were worth the watch. Coco Cay is a great stop for all. We chose the private Beach Club excursion on the north side of the island. A quiet well appointed retreat area with exceptional service, food, and amenities. If you have no children and want a beautiful beach experience, with sit down lunch service...pay the extra $65 and enjoy .
