Cabin: Balcony

This cruise was for a very special occasion for 15 days to the Hawaiian Islands. On bording the ship the exterior was running with rust streaks and large dents on the outside. This did not look good as first impression. I had been upgraded to a fantastic cabin I was told. The cabin straight away smelt musty and looked tired with old furniture. The valance around the bed was dirty and my bed sheets had tears in them. The bathroom had mould around the sink as did the shower tray. The outside balcony furniture was torn and old. The pipes around the balcony were covered in so much rust and the railing varnish was nearly all peeled away. the balcony door did not close properly and when crossing over to the Island in rough seas kept opening!!

The pool areas of the ship were old and tired. There was large patches of rust in the pools and the Jacuzzi was cracked and leaked. It looked so tarnished and very uninviting. the steps were dirty and the pool furniture torn and old. the outside areas were in a very poor state and everywhere needed a good clean and paint. The lounge areas are worn and the theatre had wall covering peeling off.

In 20 years of cruising I have never seen such a unkept ship and only to find out she is due a full re-fit in April. Why are they still selling this cruise ship as also she has been purchased by P&O so will no longer be in the Princess Fleet. There was a bad respiratory infection going around which a lot of people caught and it didnt help that there were lots of ceiling leaks and broken air conditioning.
