We were on the West Indies Explorer cruise and enjoyed every port- no sea days. This was good because they closed all of the pools, hot tubs, steam room, ice grotto, sports courts, locker rooms, and self serve buffet for over one third of the cruise due to an outbreak of the norovirus. No raw sushi or smoked salmon either. This was very disappointing but understandable in order for them to try to stop the spread of the virus. However, we paid for a fairly expensive cruise with the expectation of a wonderful (included) spa experience everyday. The ice grotto, steam room, spa pool, hot tub, and warmed loungers were a huge factor in our decision to choose Viking. Didn't happen. We asked if they were going to give the passengers any sort of reimbursement for for this major reduction in amenities and the answer was a big NO. Sadly, our last cruise with Viking.

The food at all of the restaurants was hit or miss. No variation in the breakfast menu at the Restaurant (except for the lack of smoked salmon) was disappointing.

On the bright side, it is a beautiful ship with amazing staff who are always there for you. A big shout out to Sing, our server at the Restaurant, who kept us laughing and knew what we wanted to order before we did. The same goes for Denny at the Infinity Pool bar.
