Friends had enjoyed HAL before, as had we 11 years ago, over the past two years. However we found that we were slightly disappointed overall. First impressions of the cabin, and indeed the ship, were that it was in need of a refurbishment. The cabin carpet was sorely in need of replacement, and indeed looked grubby. No slippers were provided which would have been nice. Cabin had adequate hanging space but it would have been helpful if they had had sliding doors rather than opening doors which prevented the bathroom door being opened at the same time.
The MDR.....we had anytime dining but were advised to book a time which we did . The first night was fine but after that it baecame a problem.
Food was good and the staff serving in the restaurant were very good, but the dining reception staff left something to be desired.
Cramped, quite dark. Grubby looking carpet. Scuffed table and vanity mirror seat.
