It was my 50th Birthday cruise with my husband. The food was plentiful and very good. We did one specialty restaurant, the steakhouse, we got the surf and turf. It was good but not filling for my husband so we ended up at the buffet afterward. We ate in the dining room twice, nothing special, the dance with the servers was fun. The menu in the dining room was blah! however, it had enough variety for you to find something to eat. Guy's Burger Joint was our favorite, along with the Pasta Bar. We didn't get a chance to try the barbeque but it looked it seemed to be popular. Mongolian Wok is one of my favorites and it didn't disappoint. The best time to go was on port days and it wasn't as crowded. We didn't attend any of the musical shows but we caught the comedy show, PG version which was okay. I had to wear sea bands, take Dramamine and use the peppermint oil behind my ears because of the rocking of the ship. The first two days were the worse. We were on deck 2, which I will never do again. I guess we were too low! I had to sleep with our heads to the bottom of the bed because of the rocking. The staff on the ship were friendly and very helpful. My husband was fine but I was nauseous. We went to Half Moon Cay, the food was okay. Amber Cove, not really crazy about this port. We didn't do any of the excursions so we bought souvenirs and it was back to the ship for us. Our last port was Puerto Playa, DR. Great! a lot more to see and do at this port. We went to a restaurant for lunch which was appetizing and very interesting.

The entertainment on the ship was okay, our cruise director was Simon. Having been on Royal Carribean prior to Carnival, it was more fun activities on Royal. We did go to VIbes the club on the ship one night and the music was good.

Overall we had a great time! A cruise is what you make it. If you want to have fun you will, you have to just dive into the activities!

Cabin Review

Not a great choice for us. We felt every rock and roll of the ship. Also very noisy, ship machinery. Sometimes the smell wasn't great in the hall, housekeeping tried to stay on top of it though with air freshener. I could smell it first thing in the morning when we left out but by midday coming back to the room, the hallway would smell very nice.

Port Reviews

Half Moon Cay

The food was okay, nothing really to do here, not a beach person.

Grand Turk

This was an okay port, we bought a few souvenirs, took some pictures and was back on the ship.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

I liked this port the best, more to do, restaurants, beach, pool area and shopping, nice port.
