This was our 3rd NCL cruise and the first on the Sun and the first with our 3 year old daughter. We booked last min, about 2 weeks out for an amazing price; so we didn't really do any up front research on the ship it was more of a case of the dates work, the itinerary looks ok the price is great lets do it!
Getting There:
We flew from NY to MCO that morning and had arranged a transfer through Norwegian. As Port Canaveral is about 45 mins from the airport this was both cost effective and convenient. We found the NCL rep easily in the baggage area and were directed downstairs to check in for the transfer. NCL has an easy to find desk with a big sign. We had a 30 min wait for the bus so we got some lunch from Starbucks while we waited. The transfer was smooth and efficient on a clean air conditioned bus.
The cabin was ok; considering the Sun was refurbished in 2019 and they updated cabins I was expecting it to be a bit newer and cleaner. It just seemed dated and in need of a refresh, especially the bathroom. I guess all they did was new carpets and TVs!
Despite being dated it worked well for us, the bed was comfortable; the fold out sofa was great for my daughter. Our cabin steward was really good and even found us a foot stool for the bathroom so that our daughter could reach the sink to clean her teeth.
Booked our own excursion - Maya Chan Beach - Awesome experience
