The port of calls were certainly limited on this cruise with two days in Cabo only with the second day on the short side. Nevertheless, it was a great get away cruise. We'd sailed on the Royal previously to Alaska and even on the previous 7 night cruise to this one on a B2B basis. The Royal is a beautiful and well designed ship.

The beef steaks and roasts were much better than usual in both the dining room and the buffet. Many times in the past we have found the beef to be somewhat tough and not having a lot of flavor on the Princess ships, but on this trip we were very happy with the quality of the meat. It was flavorful, tender and cooked perfectly to my rare preferences.

This cruise was over the Super Bowl weekend and many of the cruisers took the cruise in order to watch the game on the "Movies Under the Stars" big screen. The ship had tailgate parties and a lot of activities centered around that particular event which have been the reason for the shorter than normal length of the cruise.

Cabin Review

Balcony

The cabin inside was your typical one, but was nice and certainly clean and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The only problem we had was the degree the balcony view was obstructed in our E626 cabin. While most obstructed view cabins come with a fairly good view this one was the exception; practically the entire view was blocked by the lifeboats. I think the only worst obstructed view cabin would likely the one to our right (E624). In our cabin you could see around to the left of the lifeboat, but everything else was blocked. Still, the large balcony door let a lot of light in and it was nice to take advantage of the fresh air from our deck, but in the future I will try to avoid these 2 cabins as well as the corresponding ones on the starboard side of the ship.
