I am a platinum member of Norwegian latitude club, so this was not my first cruise with them, but it will be my last. I was staying in a spa cabin which basically means you have access to the spa. After nearly a week in my cabin of being itchy and finding bites on me, I discovered I had bedbugs. Having traveled half way around the world in my lifetime, I have never had bedbugs and was completely creeped out by knowing I had been sleeping with them for nearly a week. I certainly would have thought that my room steward who made my bed and changed my sheets would have seen them. After calling housekeeping, they put me in another room, and said they would launder my clothes, which they considered to be a perk even though I would have needed neither a new room or laundry service if they had not infested me with bedbugs. When I got my clothes back they clearly had not been washed, but probably put through a dryer, which I found out later, is a way to kill the bugs. I was then stunned when they said that the protocol for compensating someone with bedbugs was a 200.00 dollar cruise credit. They also gave me a case # and said to contact customer relations when I got home. The only way to contact them is by email and there is no one else you can actually talk to, I call that a lack of customer relations. The email I received back offered me 200.00 toward a future cruise. I have to say I am appalled. Clearly Norwegian has a much larger bedbug problem than I was aware of if the best they can offer their traumatized customers is 200.00 cruise credit. I had already reserved a Haven suite for November, with back to back cruises which I have since cancelled. 20,000.00 dollars worth of business they were more than happy to lose speaks to a much greater problem with the whole company. Im sure there is another cruise line out there that cares about customer service, and I plan to find them and never sail on another Norwegian company ship again.

Le Bistro, food was very good as was service, La Cucina was not good, nor was the service. I never got the soup i ordered they just brought the next course. Cagneys was fine, I guess in my opinion a steak house that i have to pay extra for should be special, it was just ok. I had access to Haven dining room because they were trying to make up for the errors on the last cruise I had taken so the dining in the Haven was excellent but limited. Service was great. Entertainment was generally cheesy and not worth waiting in the long lines for. The Cirque show that was an extra fee was a dinner show, food was inedible, service was slow, the show was once again not something I would have paid extra to see. Comedians were ok long lines small venue. The Pour House looked to have some fun things but unless you had hours before the events to wait for a seat it was way to crowded. Most of the activities that were planned took place in the atrium with limited viewing and even less seating, most people stood to watch the trivia or game shows. As I have already covered the service in my cabin (poor), and the service in the restaurants I visited {spotty} the only other service is customer service which Norwegian has evidently done away with as the crew could not have cared less if there was a problem. They just tell you to wait till your off the ship. I did not take any ship excursions as they seemed like over priced bus rides to the shopping center. The ports were mostly crowded with 2 or more mega ships in at the same time. The Carribean was warm which was the point of the trip and to be pampered a bit which did not happen. The ship seemed to be in decent shape although I would have expected it to be in great shape as it had recently been in drydock. All of this is tempered with the memory of living with bedbugs. I know they want me to review other things but through the whole trip I had to worry about being bitten and infested with bugs. I found it difficult to enjoy anything with that hanging over my head.

Cabin Review

Spa Balcony Stateroom

bedbugs. Cabin was small, not much storage, balcony was 2 chairs and 1 small table.

Port Reviews

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

always overcrowded would be nice if they could stagger the ships in port.

Ocho Rios

Unable to leave the port without being bombarded by people trying to sell you everything from trips to drugs and sex.
