Last minute because the significant reduction in solo supplement was appealing. Turns out the ship was only 65% full so I probably could have negotiated for 0 supplement. Because the dates straddled the New Year holiday, the wide age range from teens to elders made it especially enjoyable. And the weather was much friendlier than anticipated.
AmaLea is barely 2 years old and everything sparkles. The ship's small size was comfortable while sailing, even when cold weather meant the entire upper deck couldn't be used. The ship's front of house mostly Eastern European crew members were skilled and friendly professionals who seemed to work well with each other. Cruise Director Vanessa Grauman was consistently unflappable. Even when some guests occasionally flapped. The high quality dining had its occasional hiccups when a meal slipped below the standard set on embarkation.
I'd easily consider another AmaWaterways cruise, if low to no single supplement were on offer.
Cabin Review
Outside Stateroom with French Balcony
Cabin stewards were always at the ready, friendly and responsive. Featured and amenities listed on AmaLea website are all accurate. State of the art lighting, entertainment, temperature options. Limited space to move around but comfortable chairs were perfect for French balcony during nice weather. Ample closet space that might have been a little cozy for 2 passengers.
