I am going to start with the positives. The staff was wonderful; professional and friendly. We didn't do shore excursions so I can't comment on that but the ports were very nice. We ate only in specialty restaurants. The food was excellent and the service was superb. The entertainment was great especially the Rockaway Duo who performed nightly in the atrium. Fitness center was good; many treadmills, machines and free weights. Plenty of room and storage space in our mini-suite.
Now for the negatives.... We like to play some blackjack and possibly some craps in the casino. The smoke was so BAD walking through the casino that you could hardly breathe. Hence, we never entered that place again. On deck 7 there is an enclosed smoking room with a door that opens and closes inside adjacent to Gatsby's lounge. The air is so BAD from the smoke that pours out from that room. You can't even sit in Gatsby's to enjoy the entertainment. And, through the Gatsby's lounge is the entrance to Le Bistro, a specialty restaurant. To enter the restaurant I had to literally cover my mouth and nose with my sweater. The room should have had access from the outside deck. Regarding chairs at the pool...people were saving 8-10 chairs at a time, early in the morning, and were not returning to these chairs for hours. We actually watched some of these chairs and after one and a half hours we asked to see a supervisor. We were told that the towels would be removed in another hour. Those people were back in the chairs within 15 minutes; very suspicious. Furniture in room showed terrible ware and tare; ship definitely needs a "FACELIFT." Started feeling sick the day of disembarkation. Got home with an intestinal virus which I now hear was permeating throughout the ship.
On the whole we had a great time and will continue to sail with Norwegian but NEVER back on the Dawn.
Cabin certainly had plenty of room. The furniture was worn and the tub was developing rust. There was rust also on the outside balcony.
We always go to Meghan's Bay...gorgeous beach
