We've been on 47 cruises, mostly long cruises, even taken a 3-month cruise around the world, but a group of 13 from our apartment building, decided it might be fun so we jumped right in. I wasn't sure if such a short cruise would be just a hassle, but it turned out great! The building usually has Happy Hour twice a week, so this was sort of like a 2-night Happy Hour (no I'm not a heavy drinker, maybe you could even say I'm not even a drinker but I do enjoy socializing!) What I liked about it was, with it being only 2 days, we could eat to our heart's content not worrying about weight increase, since how much weight can you put on over 2 days and not be able to take off after a week or two! The dock is only 20-25 minutes away as we live in Ft. Lauderdale, so there was no travel issues and it was a nice break in routine. Gave us all lots to laugh about before and after the cruise. The ship, crew and food were wonderful. The fare was a special for Concierge class. What's not to like about an upgrade, but it didn't entice us to try Concierge again as we didn't really use the room that much, never really saw the cabin steward much (which could be considered a good thing - just invisibly doing his job) and the tip per day was a dollar more than other the lower category cabins. So, I'd definitely recommend short cruises for a quick getaway, but in the very affordable inside cabins.

Oh by the way, no it wasn't a drunken brawl type cruise. I didn't see any of that, of course we did go during a time when kids are usually in school.

Hope the cruise lines have more of these short trips, if so, we'll certainly be back on one.
