This was our third time on the Getaway. We didn't chose this cruise because of the ship, it was all about the destinations. After this one, I would be very reluctant to ever book out of New Orleans again. New Orleans itself was a great experience both before and after the cruise. We very much enjoyed exploring the city and had a fantastic time. Lots to see and experience. However, from the time I arrived at the port embarkation to debarkation, it was a cluster. This is why I only give this cruise a 4. Otherwise it would be a 5.

The Good: Seven days sometimes seems to short, but this nine day cruise seemed to be the perfect amount of time. Still enjoy sailing on NCL. The layout of this ship is fantastic and very easy to navigate. All dining is located on decks 6, 7, and 8 (with the exception of the buffet on deck 15) toward the aft and once in that area very easy to get to anyone of the dining venues. To include 678 Ocean Place as it's right in the center and all three decks are a short walk up or down the stairs. Cabin was always cleaned and it good condition. It was a great place to sleep and get ready to seek adventure.

Weather at the ports wasn't the greatest this time of year. Costa Maya and Belize were both fantastic with only a little bit of rain moving in later in the afternoon at Belize. Rained pretty much the entire day in Roatan. If traveling to Roatan, I recommend a shore excursion as there is almost nothing else to do at the port. Most ports have some sort of shopping, this one had very little. They are expanding it though, so I would be interested in hearing about what it is like a few years from now. We couldn't get into George Town, Grand Cayman because of wind, so the captain took us to Spots Bay on the southside of the island, we were able to tender across from there, and then catch a taxi into George Town. Which I was just happy to get on the island still. Did cut into our time on shore, however, still good to get over there. Weather was pretty much perfect in Ocho Rios and the last two sea days. This was our actual time to relax and we were able to get that accomplished.

Cabin Review

Spa Balcony Stateroom

Great cabin. Given the chance, I would not do the upgrade again to this type of cabin. The spa is great, but unless you are the type to spend several hours each day in the spa, it is not worth the extra expense. Enjoyed it once, but don't need to experience it again.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Great little stop. Semi-private island that is an extension of the cruise ship. Did the "flighttower" zipline for $89. Awesome experince.
