The cabins are fine, all Verandahs. The ship had a bit of an issue keeping constant temperatures -- but we were on the equator, after all. It was nothing intolerable, just a challenge to get everything the right temp. Bathrooms are just as advertised -- spacious and clean/bright.

Embarkation was almost too easy. Luggage was available almost immediately. 

San Juan

This was the only non-air-conditioned bus on the trip. We were still comfortable. This was a great way to learn a lot about the island in a short period of time, capped with adult beverages. 

Our first stop on the Amazon. We went Piranha fishing with a tour through smaller tributaries to see wildlife and local people living off the river. Outside the city is very sparsely populated with primarily individual houses alone.  

Santarem

Before Manaus we stopped in Parintins, which isn't even on the list of ports here. We saw a great performance, second in size only to the Rio marti gras. The Boi Bomba Folkloric performance was staged only for this Viking ship and was not to be missed (again, with adult beverages served). 

Manaus is where the rivers meet. We not only toured the meeting of the waters but we also stopped into a floating bar down one of the tributaries. To do so, we had to board those long but thin canoes. 

Loved it. Included a stop at a floating bar. 

Run by the military, this is a rehab facility where all animals eventually are returned to the wild. So, the variety is always changing but we had some great specimens. 

Great tour, long day, and wonderful lunch. The views from the redeemer are just unbelievable. 

Highly recommend visiting Montevideo. Uruguay has a distinctly different background, history, and population form the rest of Brazil. It's the only country in Brazil where 100% of the people have access to clean drinking water. 

The excursion was, as always, well done. The restaurant for lunch was a little over crowded for our size of party -- though it may not have been the restaurant's fault entirely. Two different groups of this tour ended up there at the same time. Clearly, that wasn't the plan, but they did their best to accommodate everyone.

This was one of those Viking extras. No flights departed until evening, but we debarked in the morning. So, Viking set up a lounge where we could sit and leave our luggage for the day. In addition, they offered a cruise of the Tigre Delta that was interesting and informative. The boats were very comfortable and the scenery was great. 

Piranha fishing was great fun (I caught one) that also provided some touring of smaller tributaries and locals living off the river.Great service, excellent food.
