We chose this cruise because good friends has taken the Viking Jupiter on the Homelands Cruise through the Baltic a year earlier. Based on their recommendation, we booked this Viking Cruise. We additionally purchased air travel through Viking. We were met by Viking staff in the airport in Stockholm and escorted to a bus which took us directly to the ship. I'm glad we did this as our flight was 15 hours long and we were very tired when we landed. Having the staff available to handle our bags and escort us to the bus was a huge help. The embarkation went very smoothly and our stateroom was ready when we boarded the ship. The Viking Jupiter is truly an incredible ship. All public areas are well appointed, immaculate and every staff member was pleasant and incredibly helpful. Our stateroom was very comfortable, modern, clean, and also well appointed. The mini-bar was well stocked with sodas and our room steward was more than willing to get us whatever we needed. The ship does have special dining restaurants, which were great, but the food in the Cafe was just as good, if not better, than in those restaurants. Every port we went to the disembarkation was smooth, the shore excursions were thoughtfully prepared and well executed with a good mix of education, history and fun facts. The tour staff was available to answer any questions we had. We especially liked the 2 days in St. Petersburg. What a beautiful city! In all the countries we toured every guide was knowledgeable, pleasant and just wanted us to enjoy their country and we certainly did. Big Pluses for us are: there were no children on board, no casinos, no smoking, no sales people pushing photo or future cruises. The weather did change daily depending on the winds and currents of the Baltic Sea. Our cruise started out warm and sunny the first week and cold, cloudy and some rain the second week. Encourage anyone going on this cruise to pack a variety of clothes and be prepared to layer them. Towards the end of this cruise we booked another one for the Mediterranean in April 2021.

Cabin Review

The cabin was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The bathroom and shower were roomy and we appreciated the heated floors (what a treat!). The bed is actually a full-size king size bed. It was very quiet and we didn't hear any noise from the hallway. We were mid-ship which placed us within an easy walk to the stairs, elevators and laundry facilities. This was a huge plus as we were on the ship for 15 days.
