We choose this cruise because it would take us to a part of the world we had not seen. We loved the visit to St. Petersburg and seeing the mountains and fjords in Norway. The stop in Eidfjorg had the most beautiful scenery.
Our ship, Viking Jupiter, was a wonderful experience. We especially enjoyed all of the quiet "living room" settings on the ship. The food in all of the restaurants and World Cafe was delicious and well prepared. The staff was very accomodating to everything we asked for, which was not much because our Veranda room was beautifully furnished and very well equipped. When our cabin steward knew that we liked ice in our water, he always had an ice bucket filled with ice in the refrigerator. Laundrettes on each floor were a nice convenience and who would not love the heated bathroom floors!
The spa was something to experience, especially the Snow Grotto! The thermal pool was very relaxing and refreshing.
Each of our excursions was interesting and informative. It was hard to choose which excursions to choose; sometimes we did two in a day, which we found was a bit much!
What we like about the Viking ships is a small (930) number of passengers, no casinos, water slides, tubes etc. These are nice, quiet ships with lots of educational components included. The Viking Jupiter even had a resident astrologer and a planetarium on the ship! If you are a fan of art, these ships are for you. There is beautiful art and sculptures all over the ship. There is an app you can download that will tell you about each piece of art. The artists in residence is another wonderful experience on these ships. On the Viking Jupiter there was a classical trio that played in several places on the ship at various times. In addition, there was also a talented pianist at the baby grand piano each day and also in the Explorer's lounge each night.
We have taken a Viking River cruise on the Longship Ageir, an ocean cruise on Viking Jupiter and we have recently booked another ocean cruise on Viking Venus!
We highly recommend the Viking River and Ocean cruises.
Our cabin was spacious and very comfortable. It was toward the back of the ship and very quiet. The closet was adequate and had a set of drawers inside of it. There was another set of drawers with a safe in the entryway beside the bathroom. In addition to the king size bed with night tables on each side, there were two chairs and a coffee table, a nice vanity that opened with a mirror and a stool you could sit on. the bathroom floors were heated and felt nice on your bare feet. The sink and shower areas were spacious and well equipped. Our balcony had two chairs and a table and was very comfortable when it was warm enough to enjoy it! The cabin was just right for us.
This is the only tour we were disappointed. We enjoyed seeing the old town of Porvoo, but very disappointed in the Castle of Malmgarden.

I had scheduled a bicycle tour, but it was raining, so I changed to the Open Air Museum and it was a very interesting experience. We saw a show of Estonian Dancers that was terrific.
Mid-evil castle that had been run by Tutonic Knights for over 300 years. Was very interesting to see the lower, middle and high castle.
The suprise of this tour was the 2 1/2 hour train ride to get from the port into Berlin. Once there, we enjoyed the tour and lunch in a German restaurant. Saw Brandenberg Gate, part of the Berlin Wall. It was a long day, but well worth it.
We went on a walking a 2 1/2 mile walking tour of the city. We enjoyed it very much.
Loved Tivoli Gardens! Beautiful flowers everywhere with amusement rides throughout the park. Very reminiscent of Disney World's Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
My husband chose a bicycle tour which he enjoyed. I chose "Meet the Danes". We were taken to two different houses and met two different and very interesting women. They each told us about their homes and the history of their houses. I enjoyed this very much. I loved getting out into the countryside on tours.
It was a cold, windy day, but we enjoyed the boat ride out to Pulpit Rock. The boat had an enclosed section down stairs, but several of us chose to stand on the upper deck to get a better view. Pulpet Rock is amazing in it's height above the water. On the way back we stoped to have waffles with sour cream and strawberry jam and hot coffee! Yum!View All 76 Pulpit Rock Reviews
Oh my goodness! The scenery in this little cove of Eidfjord was spectacular. The benefit of the small Viking ships is that they can get into smaller places. The tour we took was the Secnic Flam Railway. The country was beautiful, the tunnels were tall and long, even having intersections in them! The train ride was fun with beautiful scenery everywhere you looked. Wonderful day!
On the City Tour we learned about the Hanseatic League and how they trained small boys to be merchants. We toured the houses where the young boys lived. This was very interesting as we had heard about the Hanseatic League before, but did not really understand it. This gave us a better understanding of what they were and what they did.View All 136 City Tour Reviews
Well, we took this tour in the morning, so all we could see from Mt. Floien was fog and rain! Later in the day would have been better to go up on the mountain. It cleared up in the afternoon and we were able to see Mt. Floien from our ship.View All 56 Mount Floyen Reviews
