On Deck 6 & 12 there are many, many inaugural port plaques on the wall. An impressive display that says this ship has-been-there-done-that. Built in 2001 it's age shows here and there but the 2018 refurbishment has definately invigorated the beauty, comfort and cruising experience aboard this ship...As veteran cruisers we've come to anticipate and expect bells & whistles, spacious contemporary designs and all the 'wows' of todays mega-ships and new boats. We had uncertain expectations booking a 5 day cruise on this small old vessel but the price was right. In review, this was a highly satisfying cruise surpassing our expectations.

The Pros; The crew was pleasent and hard working, they did their jobs. The senior staff was obviously experienced and visible. Our cabin steward Arleine was a new hire and did an exceptional job, such pleasantness and attention, thank you...The food & beverage is consistant with other NCL ships, better than many others, good food and selection. The Specialty Restaurants are exceptional...The ship's size and layout is nostalgic, very clean, nicely decorated and easy on the eye but it is a challenge to navigate...The ship never felt crowded. Limited and modest waits for elevators and buffets...Embarking and disembarking was efficent and quick..."washy washy" prior to entering the buffet is a good and healthy practice, well done, good move...Decent cabin space and comfortable beds

Cons; The canvas roof over the aft outdoor dining area on deck 11 is badly stained. It appears to be new, provides very functional shade & cover and is likely expensive. However, when docked next to the Disney ships in the home port and docked shoulder-to-shoulder with three other ships on the Costa Maya pier this canvas is an eyesore ("yep, that's my boat")...Loud band music in the Atrium location makes conversation difficult on three decks...On the upper decks oudoors nearly all viewing is through glass, windows that sea water relentlessly cloud. Guess it is what is. Seek out forward and aft deck 12 and anywhere on deck 6 for clear views.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Oceanview Porthole Window

More space than anticipated with a twin bed set up. Very clean, however carpets overdue. Comfortable beds. New furnishings. Cabin Steward, Arleine, attentive and pleasant. TV equipment and programing satisfying...Overall good hotel accommodation.
