I've always wanted to cruise Alaska but hate the large, 5000+ passenger cruise ships. Being a fan and loyal passenger with Viking River cruises, it was a no brainer to book with them when they announced their foray into the Alaska market.

From the moment we boarded, we were enthralled. The food was fantastic, the staff impeccable and never once did I feel crowded in the spacious gathering areas around the boat.

The spa area with the snow grotto was a wonderful way to relax during a day at sea or after hiking in the various ports. I appreciated the fitness facility - very clean and spacious. And the views while cruising at sea can't be beat. I also have to give kudos to the staff at the spa - my husband was too efficient in his packing the night before disembarking and packed ALL of his shoes. The spa attendant was able to provide him with some shower shoes to get him to Anchorage airport where he was able to reclaim his shoes. Thank you!

Ketchikan

Wet and dirty but fun! gorgeous views.

Sitka

Interesting tour of town by bus followed by time at the cultural museum. Lots of bald eagles!

Skagway

Phenomenal views - it was a gorgeous day and the dog sledding was fun. Highlight of my trip for sure.

Seward

Interesting way to spend the afternoon. Informative. And there's a great brewery not far.
