We chose this cruise because I had hand surgery recently and was not able to carry around suitcases. We thought an ocean cruise would allow us to have a great experience and not need to change rooms or locations, which is exactly what happened. The ports were all fun, however, visiting St.Martin Island was a little sad. The hurricane ruined that place and there is little beauty away from the ocean. Fortunately the visit was short.

Portuguese Madeira was quite beautiful. It was spring and the flowers and landscapes were wonderful. We would have liked more time there. Cadiz and Valencia were very interesting. Lots of history, of course, and good food. The walking tours of both cities were very good. The guides were well informed and knew their stuff.

We loved Barcelona. Our second time there so we did things we had missed on our first trip. We stayed extra days and used Viator tours for a couple of outings to wine country and Montserrat.

Cabin Review

Plenty of room. Very nice. Great service. Balcony are great.

Port and shore excursions: Viking includes a shore excursion at every port. These are usually a historical walk through the old town by a local guide. If you havent visited that location, we have found them to be the best tour. Viking also has a variety of tours with an added cost. Or, my favorite, when Im tired of touring - free shuttle buses are at every port to take you into town. We use the RickSteves tour books as a guide to local sights to visit on our own.

What if a tour is full? Google: Viator Tours and you can usually find the same tour at a different time. Ex: The kayak excursion with Viking was full, we located a kayak tour through Viator in the same location. When we called, they were the same tour company and could accommodate us at a later time. Score! And we had a much smaller group.
