Took an NCL Western Caribbean cruise last year and wanted to share experience with family...what a mistake!!

The food presentation was good but taste was very low quality. The desserts were the worst! Even the breakfast pancakes were clearly packaged and not fresh. Looooong waits between courses, 2 hrs+ for dinner. We chose dining rooms because it was the best of the worst. We did complain to guest services about wait staff, met with lead dining mgr, but nothing changed.

Additionally, we reviewed all of the policies for Splash Academy, and there is NOTHING in them about illness. Our granddaughter got sea sick and the staff in Splash Academy were very professional, but they said we had to pay $200 to visit the doctor to have her cleared for return. We understand the requirement to visit the doctor, but not for that fee, no prior notice, and no ability to use health insurance. The doctor only treated for sea-sickness and did not test for viral issues. (What if she had a virus? No quarantine, just $200 please) Even after talking with head of guest services, no apology or accommodation was made for the $200 fee. Beware, if bringing kids.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Steward was invisible unless we searched him out to request extra sheet, extra bed made-up or even ice.. Nothing above and beyond, not even towel animals at turn-down, which they push in photo shop.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

This Port is a Shopping Mall... "Mexico Commercialized". If you don't take a tour, exit the mall and grab a shuttle ($4/pp) to the beach town 2.2 miles away. Fun, cheap, $20 massages on the beach and $3 beers. Must take a taxi back to port so confirm cost before getting in taxi.

Cozumel

Cozumel changed drastically in last few years. Entire port expanded and commercialized. Beaches no longer within walking distance. We grabbed a cab to a small, private resort that cab driver recommended. Entry was $20/pp and worth it. Other packages include drinks for $40/pp or food and all drinks for $65/pp. Bring a towel from ship. Great, relaxing time. Be sure to stop at "Senor Frogs" (near port) for last round before heading to ship.
