The Norwegian Getaway quickly became our favorite ship in over 20 cruises on multiple cruiselines. This ship wasn’t too big and wasn’t too small. It never felt crowded even in buffet lines, shows, MDR, or getting on and off the ship. The staff was top notch and some of the friendliest we have ever had. I’d highly recommend this ship to people of all ages. It’s great for solos, couples, and families.

Embarkation was easy breezy. We arrived around 10-10:30 to the port dropped our luggage with the porters and made our way through security and to check-in. We then found a seat and waited for our group to be called which was group 5. This didn’t take much time at all and we were quickly on board the ship. As soon as we got on we split up to conquer a few things. We went immediately to the comedy lounge to get our dinner reservations sorted out which was very simple and we got all the times we wanted for our group of 6. The rest of our group was at guest services as they applied the perks to the wrong sail and sign card so they got that sorted out then we immediately went to the taste dining room for lunch. This was a very nice and not crowded experience as we could relax and eat while waiting on our room to be ready. We enjoyed the service and menu items here. We also got a few drinks which were included in our package, but the taxes applied since we were in port. After lunch, our rooms were ready pretty quickly so we dropped our bags off then wandered around the ship. We had a midship balcony on deck 8 and our friends were in an aft balcony on deck 13 since we booked guarantee rooms. This was too inconvenient.

As far as cabins go, the midship balcony on deck 8 was an incredible spot. Only steps away from Syds Pour house, the sunset bar, outdoor space, La Cucina, Ocean Blue, the Mojito Bar, and the shops and photos. This was a prime location we would be happy to book again. Our friend were not in as ideal of a location being deck 13 aft, but their balcony more than made up for it. Being an aft balcony it had 2 chairs a table, and 2 lounge chairs with ample space and an awesome view off the back of the ship. Noise was never an issue for us on deck 8 in room 8154, but the other room was 13906 and they had quite a bit of noise during the deck party, but it didn’t last all night. We had ample space for 3 adults in each room. There was plenty of storage the only complaint we had was the closet was so close to the bed it made it very difficult to access. The bathroom was excellent with no shower curtain, but a glass door which is a huge perk for us. This was only our 2nd Norwegian Cruise, but our 20th Cruise overall. Our first Norwegian cruise was son the Gem to Bermuda in a suite so this was a different experience, but honesty still incredible.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

The cabin was spacious and had plenty of storage for 3 adults. The balcony is not very big, but had a good view although shuffleboard is underneath this cabin so noise does radiate up.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

Booked as part of the ATV excursions so it included drinks and a beach chair. Beach was beautiful

Harvest Caye

The port has something for everyone. The zipline is indeed worth it! The pool area is beautiful. Don’t miss the butterfly gardens. Also make sure to buy a coconut to drink out of.
