We chose Princess Cruises under the impression that Princess Cruises is one of the higher ranked / higher quality cruise lines compared to several others that we had taken prior (MSC, Norwegian, Costa, Aida). We also loved the itinerary for the "Jewels of the Caribbean with 6 stop overs). Our high hoes were shattered early during the emergency drill, when the captain announced that due to prior and ongoing trouble with one generator, the Crown Princess would not stop over in Grenada at all, and would leave St Thomas 2 hours earlier than planned. As a "reward" for this inconvenience we received a meager $100 credit per person, which given the overall costs of our cruise being close to $9,000 for two, seems a smack in the face. To make things worst, the Crown Princess arrived late on her last stop in Turks and Caicos and the early booked tour via Princess Cruises (no surprise here ) had already left without us. Only after long debates with the excursion team did we receive a refund, without any additional discounts or consideration for our inconvenience. We basically were forced to spend the time at the over crowed beach near the ships dock. We had also booked the all cruises access pass for the Thermal area and initially we were told that the Spa Pool was exclusively for Spa guests. We found out the hard way on the first day that this was not the case and anyone could enter the area. There was no such exclusivity. Upon our complaints they changed their statement and said it would only be reserved for adults, but not just Spa members. Anytime diners frequently had a wait a the formal dining restaurants and tables for two were literally never available. Even with reservation attempts they were always booked out very early. The food in the buffet restaurants was tasteless and without any culinary highlights. Even soups were watery. In contrast the food in Sabatini's and Steak House was great, but then of course you pay for it. We thought that Princess Cruise would offer at least such higher quality food in the "free" restaurants, but no such luck. For us the cruise was a major disappointment overall after our high hopes for Princess Quality, and as we are frequent cruisers we will spend our future money elsewhere. I am sure none of the well paid executives in charge of Princess will take a note.
