Please consider that this cruise was a gift and it was during the NYE week. We read many reviews, mostly negative, about the Liberty before we departed. Our expectations were probably a bit on the low side, but the price was right! Some of the reviews we read indicated strong smell of sewage, dirty dishes left on the tables, embarkation and disembarkation issues, none of which we found to be true. What we found to be true was that the ship is a bit out of date but generally clean. Food is mediocre, service is average, staff friendly. We found most of the bar and food staff to basically be just going through the motions. Bar service was slow, they need more staff behind the bar and out and about taking drink orders. The HUB app was good for keeping up with daily activities but the chat feature did not work. We ate at the Steakhouse one evening and it was a huge disappointment. Portions were small and taste/quality of the food was mediocre. Entertainment was excellent, MarkQ the cruise director did a great job and the signers and other performers were excellent. Overall for us the price was right but when searching for our next cruse, Carnival will not be our first choice.
