We've done many cruises (Royal Caribbean, Disney, etc.) so this review is written based on careful and objective comparison. Too many bad experiences on Getaway, it's hard to start. Our bottom-line: we'll avoid Norwegian at all cost in the future!

Number 1, our stateroom on Deck 9, plus the next 8 rooms down, are located right on top of a hard rock music performance venue on Deck 8. Why would a ship be designed this way? Heavy bass and drums regularly played in the afternoon and at night, till 11PM, making it unbearable to rest in our own room. I felt nausea and uneasy and sick after the first half an hour. no way to sleep. Considering time change we lose 1 hour on a few nights, and then we have early excursions. Called again and again and met with customer service face to face. Valuable family time hour after hour was wasted in useless discussions because they can't find a proper place to move us. In the end, they gave our daughter a smaller room to sleep in if she wants to rest before 11PM. We can't all move in there, so the problem was only partially solved.

Number 2: FREESTYLE everything, meaning it's HECTIC and you're never sure whether and when you'll be able to eat, and whether you can see a complimentary show in the 7 days on board. For all other cruise lines this was never an issue. With Norwegian, yeah freestyle you'll have to just accept the possibility that you may miss out on things.
