We had really enjoyed our Emerald Duoro cruise and wanted to explore the Danube countries. Although we found that we are less interested in the culture and language of this part of Europe we cannot fault Emerald. The staff all did a great job and the whole thing was very well organised and enjoyable. The cabin was spotless and although small was well designed with lots of storage. Comfortable beds. Food was very good and varied. The passengers were mainly American or British, with some Canadians and Ausies. A noisy large party of Brits spoilt the enjoyment of the entertainment as they felt the need to talk very loudly and show each other their 'phones throughout. Perhaps some way of screening off part of the bar area, separating those who want to listen to their own voices rather than the entertainment would be a good idea, with an announcement or sign that made it clear which area was for entertainment. The noise in the bar and dining area was deafening at times and some more soft furnishings or screens would make for a more pleasant experience.
Our steward won the award for the best staff member, which was well deserved.
Good walking tour but not a great deal to see
Pretty little town
Amazing abbey and church. Well organised tour
Interesting tour but not much else in the city other than what we saw in the tour
Our tour guide went on about trivial things and did not really give us a feel for the place
