Inaccessible life jackets on Costa Fortuna privately contracted tender to K
tip box that is shoved in your face on disembarkation from tender to Koh Sa

2 weeks sailing from Singapore 17/12/19 to 30/12/19. Paid extra over Christmas (nearly $5000 AUD. And so it went as follows: Air conditioning not working in cabin. No soap in cabin..had to ask for a $5000 cake of soap. mediocre room cleaning. No clean sheets for 2 weeks. Evacuation drill was a confused mess with no communication or guidance from staff. No help from staff to put on life vests as maintained that information regarding life jackets provided in writing in cabin. A member of the staff shoved me and yelled at me to move over during drill, despite there not being any room to move. To be manhandled in such a way made me feel like I was a cow in a feedlot...I'm 60 years old...I don't want to be deliberately pushed. Could not activate pre-booked wifi (that cost 113 Euro) as instructions in the cabin are totally wrong. Queued 3 times at hospitality services to get help with logging onto wifi & was given 3 different pieces of advice...all were wrong. And after 9 days of being extra frugal with the wifi and barely using half of our allotted 3G...the remainder was totally wiped out overnight via an unknown source. The hospitality services desk maintained that they had records from the server but could not provide us with the records as they were purely for Costa's information...another $180 AUD down the drain...couldn't even argue the toss without evidence. The staff were consistently rude, short-tempered and lacking in social skills. I witnessed a senior petty officer dressing down a junior member of staff in the buffet in full view of passengers. His behaviour was unbecoming of an individual in a management position and totally inappropriate. It was an embarrassment to watch and made me feel sick and saddened that someone could be humiliated so badly in a public arena. The tender to Koh Samui is privately contracted through a Thai company by Costa. The life vests were in a large plastic bag on the top deck. They were totally out of reach of lower deck passengers and inaccessible to upper deck passengers. There appeared to be no life vests for children and there was no Costa member of staff on board to guide and help passengers in the event of an emergency. All other crew members sonly spoke Thai. The thought of Costa allowing this situation to continue with the potential for children to drown is beyond belief and CRIMINAL! The tap water in the cabins was undrinkable. It looked like it had been mixed with raw sewerage.

The water was turned off on one occasion without advice to passengers over the PAapparently because it was an emergency, however, they can always manage to blastpassengers with PA announcements that make money...Bingo, Bingo, Super Bingo!!! Theafter-hours water dispenser on the outer deck was frequently malfunctioning and other thanpaying for bottled water with 15% surcharge there was no water available as passengers were advised not to drink the tap water. The attention to hygiene on the ship was disgusting...the hand sanitizers in the eating areas were often empty. Most other cruise lines have addressed the issue of onboard hygiene with the veracity of a wounded COSTA! The poker machines in the casino did not work for 2 days...not because we were inport but because they were broken. The onboard information display booths were mostlybroken. The food was mostly pizza, pasta. No variety in cuisine despite there being a large

Asian and Chinese passenger component. Even P&O can pull off a stir fry or a curry. NOT COSTA. But to be fair...the last 7 days Costa put on some Indian fare...but it was purely for a special Indian tour group and no-one else on board was permitted to eat it...totally speechless on this little gem of Costa brilliance! So as the smell of Marsalla wafted through the buffet the peasants who had paid $5000 AUD got to eat pizza, pasta. The entertainment...there was one movie screened in the 2-week festive season of Christmas and that was....wait for it...The Three Tenors in LA. Every kid on board was over the moon with excitement. Constant Italian music, daily games in Italian, Italian nightly shows in the theatre, Italian flags everywhere...nothing to embrace the global family. Every night at the buffet you had to queue for lengthy periods but the 11 pm christmas night buffet stole the show...crowded, disroganized, conducted in a venue where people were trying to dance and walk from one end of the ship...TOTALLY STUPID BUT SUMMED UP COSTA TO A TEE!! As a result only the greedy got fed...like they needed it!! to the other. Christmas night buffet was disroganized, crowded The dining room...only a photo could tell the story of that experience. And on top of all of that got slugged with a daily mandatory service fee for crap service (which I prepaid because I knew it was coming despite every other cruise line either abolishing or permitting waiver on this otherwise named "gratuity"). I feel so sad that I have wasted my money, our Christmas was an absolute disaster and Costa has gotten away with it. I would rather see the embarkation process stuffed up than small bodies floating off Koh Samui. Oh and another thing...yes you will be charged for visa to Cambodia whether you get off the ship or not and you will have to get off the ship in Singapore even if you are traveling on for another 7 days AND you will be instructed at the end of cruise disembarkation briefing to rate Costa a 10 because it will reflect badly on the crew members if you do not...NO PRESSURE, NO GUILT, NO WAY!
