We chose this cruise because it was the last Princess cruise in this part of the world to start and finish in Auckland, saving flight and accommodation costs. It wasn't our first choice of time of year, we usually cruise when the kids are at school, but as it was over Christmas we thought the celebrations would overcome that. We had a priority boarding pass, but they said they didn't do priority boarding and we had to wait our turn (in group 5). Don't tell us we have if it's not going to happen!

Unfortunately, although our age group would have made up around 50% of the cruisers, the entertainment was not aimed at us. The music was so loud I ended up with a migraine early in the cruise. The music was also, to my ears, quite raucous and shrieky. We've been used to light classical string quartets, etc, and the musicians are normally happy to take requests. This didn't happen this time. The string duo had electronic instruments which seemed to be turned up to suit the damaged hearing of the younger generation. I had to complain twice to even get any action. They couldn't find my first complaint even though I'd had a phone call about it. We saw two comedians and they were only there for two days. Would have liked to see more of them both. The magician, on once, was average.

The cabin was the usual balcony cabin with great cabin steward, but the aircon was too stuffy or too cold.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Usual balcony. Smallish, weather not good enough to keep balcony door open to stop getting stuffy.
