We had a cruise certificate for a discount on a Royal Caribbean Cruise we had gotten from Hilton. Only RCL goes to Haiti, so we figured we'd make use of the certificate by going somewhere no one else goes to. The cruise also went to Falmouth, Jamaica. Big Mistake.
The moment we got onto the cruise ship, we went straight to our room. The trouble started immediately. People were smoking pot right down the hall from our room. The hall reeked of marijuana. I am extremely perceptible to marijuana odor and smoke. It has a debilitating impact on me.
We immediately informed the staff, who couldn't have cared less. They made excuses not to deal with the issue. This went on for three days until the staff called us and said the couldn't figure out which room was responsible, so they would check the ventilation system. We spent the entire cruise going the long way away from our room, heading toward the aft of the ship and around the starboard corridor back forward to get anywhere as we could not walk down our corridor (port side).
The cabin itself was fine. It was a normal cabin. We have been in a suite (Celebrity), balcony room (Carnival), ocean view (Carnival), and now an interior. The room itself made no difference. The hall and the room next door ruined it for us.
Falmouth is rough. I was approached to buy pot (wrong person to ask my friend - not me). This was about the worst port town we had ever seen. Some stores smelled of pot. The buildings are in bad shape. We will never go back to Jamaica.
