This is our third cruise, first on NCL. I have cruised on both Royal Caribbean and Carnival. The first question people always ask, "which one do you like best". I can honestly say I have enjoyed all three equally.

I wish I could cruise anytime during the year but I am limited to summers and school vacations as I am a teacher, have one child in collage and one still in high school. The Christmas week was the only time all of us would have the same time off. Our group consisted of my wife and I (50's), our children and friend (21,20,17) and my folks and in-law who are all in their mid 70's. In our group we had two first time cruisers, my kids who cruised only once before 7 yrs ago, when they were much younger, and my folks who have been on 15+ cruises over the last 20 yrs, mostly on Princess. All and all we all thoroughly enjoyed this cruise....All of us!

Embarkation: We arrived in New Orleans the day before the cruise and stayed in the French Quarter at the St. Pierre hotel. The staff at hotel was wonderful but the rooms were small and somewhat dated. We arrived at the cruise terminal around 10:30 am via UBER. Our UBER driver new exactly where to drop us off, literally right in front of where the porters take your luggage and in less than a minute we were on our way to the terminal building which is short walk from the luggage area. The rest of the disembarkation process went as smooth and efficient as I could have hoped for and sure didn't expect. No wait for security or to check in with a NCL representative. It was easy to find seating in the waiting area and within 45 mins we were on the boat.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Love cruising in a balcony cabin. Nothing like sleeping with sliding glass door open and having the waves and breeze lull you to sleep. Though the balcony is small it provides that intimate space to enjoy the ocean away from the hustle and bustle of the boat. I just wish NCL allowed the balcony divider walls to be opened when cruising with others in cabins next door. I know its not a maritime law prohibiting this practice. While in Cozumel we were docked next to a Disney boat and it was clear that this practice was allowed on their boat. Our room steward, Bernardo, did a fantastic job keeping the room cleaned throughout the entire cruise. We had three people in our room and there was adequate space and storage for us all. The main bed was comfortable and my 20yr old daughter thought the couch bed was more than comfortable.
