For our second cruise in Antarctica we chose Silversea and, sadly, paid a lot of money for what turned out to be lower quality than our first cruise on Seabourn, Contrary to the spin from the company, this ship does not offer five star luxury; at best it is probably a three star experience. Our very large cabin (we got a two level upgrade) like most of the ship is not well designed or decorated. The food was very disappointing. On such a cruise I expected several dinner menus with lobster, king crab legs, jumbo shrimp and jumbo scallops, but NONE of these were offered. Many main dishes were disappointing and one night two at our table had to return steaks because of high fat levels. As to Antarctica, there were a number of times when the outings were only cruises on the rubber Zodiak boats and not actual landings where you see animals; this was totally different than our Seabourn experience where every day there were two outings with landings and far more animal sightings. The best thing about Silversea was the high quality of the service staff for the cabin and the restaurant.

Size was great, but there was a lot of wear and tear on the furnishings and awful noise at night from stuff in the ceiling.

The bus trip to restaurant for lunch was ok.

My wife and I were shocked that there was no computer on the ship for use by those on the trip, which was totally different than our experience on many other cruise lines.
