This was a back to back cruise coming off the Mediterranean & Adriatic cruise. We wanted to see what the Canary islands have to offer and it was a delight.
We enjoyed the experience of the beautiful greenery and 585 metre high expose sea cliffs in Madeira island, the collapsed gigantic volcanic Caldera Taburiente in La Palma island, the ride up to 3550M of the tall volcanic mountains Mt Teide in Tenerife island at 3718M above sea level and another 4000 metres below sea passing through the rolling clouds below us at 1600M and finally, the fun camel ride and coach tour of the moonscape of Lanzarote island. The experiences were all new and exciting for us.
The shore excursion Pilgrim walk of the Santiago de Compostela in La Coruna was very ordinary. That's just me. 4Km and no scenic views. The other 300,000 annual walkers must have found some spiritual enlightenment along the 100Km to 700Km walk. Good for them. At least, I have seen the image of St James inside the Church. While waiting for the return, we enjoyed on our won, some fresh Galician seafood cuisine in a nice restaurant opposite the Church and the service was very friendly.
