I was in Norway to see the Northern lights and after 4 days in Svalbard I flew to Tromso for 3 nights and then was on the Trollfjord overnight to Honningsvag. I was sleeping in the lounge as it was only a short journey and the main reason for my visit was to see the Northern lights. We set off from Tromso and after sometime became embroiled in a storm with high winds and snow. I had settled myself in the forward lounge on deck 8 as it had a long sofa and was quite dark, ideal for sleeping on. It was still stormy the next day, we were due in Honningsvag at 11.15. I had my own food and, more importantly, a water heater so I could make tea, coffee soup etc. They wanted nearly £3 for hot water in the bar, cold water was free. A croissant was about £6, a filled roll £6, breakfast £20, tea, coffee £4!! Thank goodness I had food with me!! Im diabetic so always keep some food with me. We were over 2 hours late arriving in Honningsvag, the Captain tried to dock twice but due to high winds couldn't so we sat out the storm and finally docked about 6pm. I was due to stay there overnight in a hostel, £50 then catch the next ship, Kong Harald, the next day to Kirkenes. The Captain announced that we would be returning to Tromso as the weather was too bad to continue. They said they couldn't guarantee that a ship would leave the next day to Kirkenes and I was due to go straight to the airport from there to fly back to London. They said I could stay on the ship back to Tromso and the reception helped me book a flight from Tromso to London. We made a quick stop in Hammerfest to drop people off who would fly to Kirkenes where they were due to stay for some days. I managed to find a shop and buy bread rolls and ham as I was running short. When we arrived back in Tromso I was allowed to stay on board until I was ready to go to the airport. They even gave me lunch in the restaurant the last day. Having been in the same clothes for 3 days, I found a disabled toilet and could wash and change my clothes before leaving for the airport. Needless to say, the flight was delayed an hour but I eventually arrived back in Gatwick just before midnight!! I have had to rate cabins etc with the lowest mark as I didn't use them.
