My husband and I have just returned from our first cruise ever. We chose the N. Gem during Thanksgiving and, let me tell you: we had an amazing time! Embarkation process (from NYC) was smooth; The ship is beautiful, all common areas were very nice and clean, with plenty to see and do.
The staff treated us like royalties! Our Steward, Al Bryant, went above and beyond, making it sure our room was always neat and tidy.
The staff of the Garden cafe handles a lot of people at the same time and they do it very well - the "Washy-washy' ladies was hands down the best! Always fun, pleasant, and full of energy.
The cabin was very nice and spacious. We were a bit nervous about head space, since I'm 5'10, my husband 6'2, and we had no problems at all. The bathroom has sliding doors so it's not as small as you may think.
We were very lucky with our Steward, who kept the room tidy for us everyday, also being respectful of our privacy.
There's plenty of storage, a couple outlets (bring a charging station for your devices).
The balcony is also spacious and SO worth it, as we had the opportunity to experience the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises ever!
