We chose this cruise as the price was reduced significantly with lots of onboard credit due to the cancellation of Cuba itineraries. We were on this ship 9 years ago and amazingly had the same captain and cruise director -both of whom are wonderful. We are diehard Princess fans with around 100 total cruises, but we wanted to give Azamara a try. We enjoyed our earlier cruise and read so much about how upscale this cruise line was. It is hard to beat the small ship experience and we have many cruises on the new Pacific Princess which is an identical ship. So much so you may forget which line you are on. There are a number of nice little touches provided such as shoe horn, umbrella, clock, large tv, fresh flowers etc. We had an inside room which while bigger is quite awkward. Would not book again. Toiletries which last time were Elemis, this time were brand x.

We ate in the MDR where food was fully acceptable as well as the buffet - our preference for a much quicker meal. We are not foodies. You can order from the outside grill in the buffet which has an extensive evening menu. The night we did - with 5 other tables occupied it took 45 minutes to get our entree.

Our biggest disappointment was the wait staff particularly in the buffet and patio. They range from indifferent to downright surly and rude. And not just one or two, but many. You get the feeling you are in their way and don't wish to be bothered. Not quite as bad as the MDR - but there we waited one night for one hour for our first course.

Cabin Review

Club Interior Stateroom

Don't be fooled by the square feet. The cabin is narrow and awkward. If someone is sitting at the desk, you cannot pass due to the oversize table. The couch is semi-circle and uncomfortable unless you are in the middle. The walls have been papered over and the cabin is somewhat dark. It is peeling and puffing in many places. Strongly suggest outside of any category.
